The thing I was really looking for in this ring was no coating that scratched off easily. The last time I purchased a black tungsten carbide ring on Amazon, the coating started scratching off almost immediately. It was supposed to be Onyx layered on tungsten carbide, but I don't believe it was real Onyx; just some type of shiny black coating. Now the ring looks like it came out of a quarter machine, and it was a $40 ring. I will give this ring the 30 days time before I can't return it to see if it gets any ridiculous scratches, but upon first impression this seems to be a legitimate black tungsten carbide ring with a solid enamel coat like Triton makes. My only complaint so far is that it is supposed to be a comfort fit, and the edges are really sharp. I'm not saying it cuts me when pressure is applied, but its uncomfortable when gripping my steering wheel at times. I expected comfort fit to be more rounded like my wedding ring, but beggars can't be choosers, and the equivalent of this ring in a major jeweler would cost over $200...soooo. Overall, I'm happy. It looks good, flashy, and is a perfect compliment as a pinky ring next to my white gold wedding band. I'll update this review in one month (or sooner if major scratches appear,) and let you all know if this tungsten carbide is the real deal. One other thing, for those interested, the metal stamp isn't just Eternal Bond; next to the Eternal Bond logo (which is in a rectangular box enclosed with the infinity symbol,) is a clear tungsten carbide stamp. I really do think this is the real deal, but again...I'll re-review this in one month.
Revision 5-24-11 - So, I said I'd get back on in a month to let you know about any scratches or wear off of color. Its been 10 days, and I can already tell you this is a quality ring at a great price compared to major jewelers. The main problem with this ring is the same as with any other tungsten carbide ring; you have to constantly wipe at it because of fingerprints on its highly polished surface which just doesn't seem to want to scratch. After reading so many other reviews on rings purchased on Amazon, I didn't think I'd be able to find a quality black tungsten carbide ring without going to a major dealer and buying something like Triton, but it seems that the Eternal Bond rings are it. Now I wish I had purchased the Knightly style to match the domed shape of my wedding band rather than the flat Enigma style, but you live and learn. At this point I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of the Eternal Bond rings; they know what they are doing when it comes to jewelry. So, if you're like me and asking yourself, "Should I make this purchase; maybe the black will be rubbing off in a couple weeks?" The answer is, JUST BUY IT! I wear my rings while doing everything except for greasy, dirty jobs (dishes, trash cleanup around the house, and tanning beds with greasy lotion applications,) and I don't have a single scratch...although my brand new black-anodized, stainless steel case, Fossil watch is scratched after putting up a tent this weekend! >=( This ring is just as good as a Triton.
