(More customer reviews)I ordered this ring to be a sort of replacement for a ring that I already wear on my pointer finger. I currently wear a stainless steel shiny golden spinner ring that I've had for a little over a year and it's been beaten up pretty badly. I searched all over Amazon for a decently priced tungsten carbide ring. I've heard that tungsten carbide rings are notoriously tough and scratch resistant, so I thought I'd get myself one of these since my current ring is scuffed and marred all over. I really like the kinds that have the carbon inlay in them but I decided that those would be too much of an investment for me, after all, I am writing a review on a $15 ring! Anyway, I decided on this one because I liked the checkerboard design on it- not too subtle, but simultaneously not too eye catching like that golden ring I have. I also liked the fact that it has a beveled edge that is reported to be comfortable, as stated in the title.
It took six days for the package to get here and just got it today. I immediately opened the box when I got inside. Believe me, this thing is highly comfortable to wear! I've read other reviews on tungsten carbide rings that say that the ring is quite weighty in comparison to stainless steel rings and this is definitely true. I noticed a significant weight difference right away. What I noticed even more, though, was how incredibly easily the ring slipped onto my finger! It was so smooth, I could hardly feel that I was putting it on and I actually took it off and tried it again! Getting back to the topic of weight, this ring doesn't burden my finger at all despite it being heavier. When the title says "comfort fit" the title means comfort! I've only had this ring for about 6 hours now, so I can't say much for it's resilience or scratch resistant property, but I can say that it has held up so far. I got a metal frame for my boxspring and mattress today and hand assembled it. I was handling the components pretty roughly and there's not a scratch or nick on this ring- I am quite satisfied thus far!
When I hold the ring in between my fingers and let it bounce on a solid surface, there is a very high pitched metallic sound when the ring makes impact. I had to make sure that this was indeed tungsten because this thing almost looks like it'll shatter but that's because it's so smooth looking on the inside surface. I examined the laser engraving closely under a light and I can see where the individual marks were made. The design is pleasing and limited to the surface perpendicular to the hole in the ring. This is nice since I would not enjoy this ring as much if the checkerboard design extended onto the beveled edge.
In the end I just decided to switch the golden ring from the pointer finger on my left hand to the pointer finger on my right hand and place this ring where the other one was. My left pointer finger is size 8, so I bought size 8 and it is true to the sizing! I've heard that some buyers get the wrong size and had to return it, but this worked on the first try. Just make sure that you have your finger sized with one of those sizers at a jeweler's first.
Overall, I highly recommend this ring!!! I think tungsten carbide would be a good investment for me to give to my girlfriend, at least that I know down the road it would last and look like it was when it came out of the box. Besides that, these rings are stylish and good-looking. ;) I know I was taking a risk by buying this product without any supportive reviews. Now you Amazon shoppers can have some positive feedback from me since this is the first review. :P 5 stars for tungsten carbide ring! This ring is for you if you like tough and resistant, present but not too flashy, weighty and worthy of having real estate on your precious finger, and all for a great price! I almost couldn't believe that I'd only have to pay 15 bucks for this (minus shipping of course).
