(More customer reviews)I had terrible experience dealing with this company. This company sell Jewelry on Amazon as well as their own website [...]. I bought this exact 3 stone 1.25 ctw diamond ring from Jay in their downtown office for $820 on Saturday 11/20/2010. Their appraisal says the ring is worth of $2800. And I was told that I have 7 days to return it if I don't like the ring. I thought that was a good deal at that time. After I came back home and took a closer look at the diamond, it was not sparkling at all and looked very cloudy. Next day, I went to several Jeweler store and asked them about the quality of the diamond, they all rate the diamond very low. I compared this one to their diamond with lower rating, and this one looks pretty bad even with my un-educated eye. So I decided to take it back to return.
On Monday (11/22/2010), I called Jay in the office and tell him that I want to return. He tried to persuade me to "work out a deal", but I insist a return. He said yes. So I drove to their office. In the office, I had a long talk with Jay. He started to make up all kind of stories trying not to give me a refund. His story kept changing. First he tried to "work out a deal" again, then he said other Jewelers just tried to steer customer away so that themselves can get more business. But I said regardless I will have the right to return. Then he said since I didn't purchase online, he couldn't refund me. The 7 days is for online purchase so that people can take a look at the ring. But I told him that he told me directly purchase from the office has 7 day's return period before I made the purchase. He then change the story again and said his manager will have to approve this but the manager is not in the office. He asked me to come back again the next day about the same time.
Tuesday around noon, I started to call Jay's office. The first two calls were picked up by one of Jay's colleges. He said that Jay was helping customer and can't pick up the call. He told me to leave my number and Jay will call me back in 30 minutes. But he never called back. I called the office again and nobody answered the phone. I started to drive to their office anyway to check if he was there. Their office has a display room with a big window through which people can see inside. The door has to be open from inside too. When I arrived, nobody was in the display room but I can see there are people inside the room behind the display room through a small window. I called from outside but the employees in that room didn't pick up the phone. Moreover, they obviously heard the phone ring and saw that I was outside. They tried to block the small window by moving a PC monitor over to the window. I realized that this company as a whole is trying to do everything they could to avoid giving me refund by the 7 day return policy. I took some pictures of the employee using monitor to block the window.
I left their second floor office and when to the first floor. I know that they have a counter there called "Novel fine Jewelry". Actually I was introduced to people there by Jay the day when I purchased the ring and he took two business cards from the counter and gave them to me. I found their counter and told the guy in there that I wanted to return my ring. He said that the first floor business is not related to the second floor. Later there was a guy looks like the owner came. I asked him if his is the David Novel and known anything about "Jewelry by Novel". He angrily said he is not David Novel and showed me his ID to prove it. His name was Farhad Novel. I think he must know the story, otherwise he didn't have to prove it. I stood by the counter watching they try to sell something to a customer. The first guy came close to me and told me "better sit down here and be quiet, otherwise the security will throw me out". Later on, from internet, I found the following information:

(Jewelry by Novel is) A family run business for over 30 years. Jewelry By Novel ( [...]) is the sister company of Novel Fine Jewelry Inc. founded by Farhad Novel. Jewelry By Novel is run by his sons Edwin and David Novel.
Farhad Novel was correct, he has nothing to do with "Jewelry by Novel" except it is his son who run it. This must be the way they always treated customer and they have developed a full set of strategy trying to steal other people's money.
I drove back home from their office and decided to let BBB deal with the case. On my way home, I was a little released because I felt their office and counter is filled with greed and lies. I just wanted to leave there and don't want to waste my precious time to be fooled again. I would like to share my story so that less people will become victim of their greed.
